All of Walt Disney World is now Open, but at what cost?
Florida is not the safest place right now, but Walt Disney World is the happiest. As of today (July 15th), the four parks are open. These four parks include: Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Epcot, and Hollywood Studios.
What is Walt Disney World Going to be Like?
After the crowds of Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom’s reopening on July 11th, people were excited to see the other parks open. With the parks being open, there are new precautions. A CNBC article outlines that:
- There are temperature screening before entering.
- Cast members will have “Mickey Mouse-themed decoration in front of his protective mask.” In addition, all visitors have to have masks on.
- There are no big parades or photopass.
- Rides are now socially distanced
More in depth information about these protocols and reserving tickets can be seen here: https://disneybuzz.com/2020/07/09/2020-walt-disney-world-tickets-hotel-reservations-resume/
How was the reopening of Epcot and Hollywood Studios?
As expected, the crowds were present at both parks. A CNN articles talking about Epcot states, “The line stretched nearly all the way back to the closest hotel, Disney’s Beach Club Resort, but it moved quickly and there were no discernible issues with elevated temperatures.”
The article also states that most of Epcot is under construction. Spaceship Earth, the ride inside the Epcot ball, is still in operation minus the use of touch screens. The revamping of this ride is postponed.
Not to worry, some of the restaurants in the World’s Showcase are still open. Epcot’s Food and Wine Festival is underway right now. However, most of the international workers are not there right now.
Is it Safe to go to Walt Disney World?
With over 302,000 Coronavirus cases in total, going to Florida seems like a risk. However in terms of going to the parks, it seems like they are taking all the precautions that they can. With more space to roam and socially distanced rides, it seems safe. Just as long as you keep a mask on and wash your hands.
