Disney Movies see Delays, Delays, and more Delays
Avatar, Mulan, Star Wars, oh my! All three of these movies/franchises will see delays in productions. While the new additions to the Star Wars and Avatar franchises have been pushed Mulan is indefinitely off the calendar.
Mulan
The original premier date for this live action version of Mulan was in March. Because of COVID-19, it was moved to August. The movie is no longer schedule to premier.
A Washington Post article states,
“Disney executives have been closely eyeing theater closures in Beijing due to outbreaks there. With Chinese stars and locations, “Mulan” is expected to generate a lot of its box office in the country, and China this week began to reopen theaters in the capital at limited capacity.”
A CNN article states,
“Taking “Mulan” off its release schedule is a huge blow to movie theaters, which are attempting to reopen”
Fans are questioning if they’ll ever see the live action version.

Avatar
Everyone’s favorite blue people are back and I’m not talking about the Blue Man Group
Unlike Mulan, Avatar has a scheduled date. The production of the upcoming four movies is pushed back one year. In 2022, Avatar 2 will be released. and in 2028, Avatar 5 will be released.
The director of Avatar, James Cameron, took to Twitter to explain the delay.

The first Avatar movie came out in 2009. The sequels will start to come out over ten years after the first. While anticipation is buzzing, is the wait until 2028 to finish the series worth it?
Star Wars
Similar to Avatar, all Star Wars movie are getting pushed back one year. Sadly, Star Wars fans will have to wait until 2023 to see a new space adventure.
The rescheduling of these anticipation movies is sad, but there is plenty to watch on Disney+ while you wait.
