Cirque Du Soleil Disney Opening This Fall
Cirque du Soleil files for bankruptcy and loses 3,500 employees, but there is hope for shows to reopen at Disney Springs in Florida this fall. Cirque du Soleil states, “The majority of performances are still on pause due to the COVID-19 situation. Performances will resume once the pandemic is under control.” One of these shows is the new performance called Drawn to Life.

Cirque du Soleil and Disney
The new production Drawn to Life is a collaboration between Cirque du Soleil and Disney. Drawn to Life features characters from the Disney universe coming to life on stage. It portrays the world of a Disney animator and depicts characters whimsically dancing off the page and onto the stage. The show includes an original Disney inspired score. While the performance was supposed to premiere in April, due to COVID-19 safety concerns it was pushed back to a later date.
Although Cirque du Soleil is going bankrupt, it still plans to open at Disney this fall.
Other Factors Involved in the Bankruptcy
While the bankruptcy is mostly blamed on COVID-19, Theme Park Insider claims that financial problems were on the horizon even before the pandemic. These issues are due to a buyout by a private equity firm in 2015 leaving Cirque du Soleil with a billion dollar debt.
According to Spectrum News 13, employees for the show are on temporary furlough. Cirque du Soleil’s end goal is a swift return to the stage even while under financial strain.
Drawn to Life Tickets are on Sale
Despite the ongoing concern for the state of the world and the financial situation of Cirque du Soleil, tickets are now on sale for the fall. On Cirque du Soleil’s website, upcoming show dates start in November and prices range between $79-$179 USD. Disney fans hope that Drawn to Life will be up and running for next season. Only time will tell.
And as far as we know that time is coming very soon! Although Cirque du Soleil is going bankrupt, it will open at Disney if all goes well.
